To celebrate the upcoming Singapore-Guangdong Cultural Week, we have interviewed a number of Singaporeans from different business sectors in Guangdong. All of them told us they acquired one or two new habits after having spent some time in Guangdong.
Jonathan Tey, head of HR and administration dept, 6 years in Guangdong
I've gotten used to going out with just my phone on me. Shopping, dining, public transport, everything in my daily life can be paid for with WeChat or Alipay.
Tanny Kong, student in TCM major, 4 years in Guangdong
I've become a big fan of Cantonese soup! Today's soup served in our school canteen is silken chicken soup with Chinese medical herbs and roots. The herbs in soup can improve your ‘Qi’, enrich the blood and improve our circulation. Good for everyone no matter your age!
Joyce Lee, Cantonese cuisine aficionado, 19 years in Guangdong
My taste for food has become more like the Cantonese locals' after all these years in Guangdong. I enjoy shopping in the wet market, looking for the freshest seafood and free-range chicken. I found a chicken breed here that only eats pineapple as it is reared, and the flavour is delicious!
